"We are very happy and grateful that the Christiane Eichenhofer Foundation's Tour Ginkgo will be rolling through the Ludwigsburg district for aufwind in 2022. It is a huge opportunity for us to raise money for the little patients and to make our association even better known," says Markus Stammberger, patron of aufwind e.V. Bunter Kreis Ludwigsburg. "We would also like to thank District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier for his active support," explains Stammberger. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier supports the campaign as patron: "It is a matter close to my heart to support the aufwind association and thus sick children and their families."
The foundation founded by Christiane Eichenhofer, who was seriously ill herself as a child, has been in existence for 30 years. "As a former leukemia patient, I know what it means to receive support and encouragement not only from doctors but also from private individuals in order to draw new strength and hope," says the namesake of the foundation behind the Tour Ginkgo.
In the yellow jersey, prominent and less prominent cyclists cycle through the district and normally accept donations. "Due to the pandemic situation, this is only possible to a limited extent this year," says Christiane Eichenhofer, who is nevertheless very pleased about campaigns by school classes, clubs, companies and people in the region who are contributing to a great cause with little effort. "If everyone donates just one euro, the aufwind association will certainly be greatly helped."
Accompanied by prominent faces, the Tour Ginkgo aims to help set the course for the respective project. All donations collected are passed on 100 percent to the beneficiaries. This year, the beneficiary is the socio-medical aftercare organization "aufwind e.V. - Bunter Kreis Ludwigsburg", an initiative of the Ludwigsburg Children's Hospital. The Bunter Kreis supports, advises and accompanies families with prematurely born, seriously or chronically ill children in coping with this stressful life situation. The aufwind aftercare team accompanies them during the transition to home care so that they do not have to go this way alone during and after their stay in hospital. In addition to outpatient treatment, holistic and family-oriented aftercare focuses on coping with the illness, integrating the patient into their living environment and maintaining their quality of life after they have been discharged from hospital.
