District Administrator Allgaier had to postpone his goal of visiting all 39 district municipalities and talking to the mayors in the district for some time due to the pandemic. The first stop on his itinerary this year was Erdmannhausen, a municipality with a population of 5,300. The lively growth can be seen in the numerous construction projects - both private and public - agreed the district administrator and mayor. "The former farming village of Erdmannhausen has become a highly commercially and industrially oriented community as a result of the changes over the past few decades, but it has still managed to retain its charm," the district administrator noted approvingly.
In addition to an expansion of the industrial estate, 14 hectares of residential building land have also been developed in recent decades. This has been accompanied by the expansion of the infrastructure. The S-Bahn connection with conversion of the train station, the renovation of the town centre as well as the construction and renovation of public buildings such as the Zwergenland children's house and the new school sports hall or the planned construction of the new fire station are projects that contribute significantly to the quality of life in Erdmannhausen, but are also always challenging both financially and organizationally. "The quality of life in a community is measured above all by its good infrastructure. This starts with childcare and medical care, and extends to retail, good and active clubs and associations, as well as inpatient and mobile care facilities. And here we certainly play in the national league," says Mayor Marcus Kohler.
The district administrator and mayor visited the Huober Brezel company with district economic promoter Oliver Reichert. The company, known for its crispy pretzels, is now in its third generation and is run by the brothers Arlend and Johannes Huober. The high quality standards in production have been maintained even with increasing throughput figures, as has the large proportion of baking tradition and manual work. The good company culture is also reflected in the company employees, some of whom have been working in Erdmannhausen for many years out of conviction. District Administrator Allgaier left with the wish to present this symbol of Swabian baking tradition, which has found a unique and outstanding presentation platform in the Pretzel Museum, combined with the entrepreneurial spirit and love of home of the first Württemberg pretzel factory Huober, to foreign guests as well.
