Student exchange between Ludwigsburg and Livron sur Drôme: French student group visits the district hall for the first time

"Bienvenue!" was the message today, Friday, at the Ludwigsburg district administration office. Head of Department Andreas Eschbach welcomed a group of French students to the district office.

A diverse group of 15 individuals stand together in a large indoor space, smiling and posing for the camera. They include men and women of various backgrounds, dressed in casual attire, with some sporting glasses. A backdrop features flags, indicating a formal setting.

"The district of Ludwigsburg is delighted to support this intercultural exchange and warmly welcomes the guests from France," said Eschbach in his welcome address. The exchange students were allowed to sign the district's guest book. The participants were then shown the district film before the visit continued with lunch together in the canteen.

The exchange group comprised around 16 people, including eight French apprentices, a teacher from France and an interpreter. They were accompanied by the principal of the Oscar Walcker School, Sabine Haveneth, as well as other teachers. Two representatives from a German training company, Heinrich Schmid, were also present.

New school partnership since 2024

German pupils visited the partner school in France for the first time in March 2024. The French students from the vocational fields of construction technology, wood technology and paint technology are now making a return visit. The vocational school offers various construction trades and is therefore an ideal partner school for the Oscar Walcker School.

As part of the exchange program, the French students spent the first week at the Oscar Walcker School. In the second week, they complete a full-day construction site internship, which usually takes place in the companies of the German trainees. The program is rounded off with leisure activities, excursions in Ludwigsburg and the surrounding area and trips to learn about the country.
