District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier recently paid another visit to Pleidelsheim as part of his tour of the district. During a tour of the municipality, which has a population of 6,300, Mayor Ralf Trettner presented completed and ongoing projects, including the town hall, which was renovated in 2019 with new outdoor facilities, the archaeological excavations on Riedbachstraße and the renovation of the sports hall, which is being funded by the state.

A special item on the agenda was a tour of the Süwag hydroelectric power plant with the regional manager of Syna GmbH, Michael Meyle. The hydroelectric power plant, which was built in 1915 and has been optimized several times, is idyllically situated on the Neckar and today produces an average of 25 million kilowatt hours of green electricity every year. This annual amount is enough to supply around 7,000 households. Süwag Energie AG is one of the largest employers in Pleidelsheim and provides almost 140 jobs across all companies at the site. In addition to the hydropower plant, the state-of-the-art grid control center, the industrial training center and the traditional grid business are the focal points of this innovative Süwag site.

As part of his tour of the district, District Administrator Allgaier will visit all 39 towns and municipalities in the district over the next few months and talk to the mayors. Due to the coronavirus, the inaugural visits could only start later than originally planned and will probably continue next year.
