The training alliance is intended to promote the utilization of the training sites - i.e. assignments at services and facilities that do not belong to the training provider - to promote the attractiveness of training in nursing and to level out the unequal conditions for training providers. The foundation is a reaction to the training reform in the Nursing Professions Act, which has been in force since 2020. The law transformed the three training professions of geriatric nursing, nursing and paediatric nursing into the training profession of nursing specialist. This threatened to reduce the number of training places. In order to maintain and further expand these and ensure the provision of nursing care, the state Ministry of Social Affairs issued a call for funding to set up coordination centers. One such office was also set up in the Ludwigsburg district office at the end of 2020.
Positive experiences with training networks in Baden-Württemberg
One of the requirements of the Ministry of Social Affairs for the regional coordination offices was to establish and further develop regional training alliances where necessary. There is a need for this in the Ludwigsburg district due to the limited number of places available and the growing shortage of skilled workers in the care sector. "The existing and growing challenges in nursing training can only be overcome with the trusting cooperation of all stakeholders involved in nursing training in the district," said Olesja Ruf, Head of the Coordination Office, at the committee meeting. Positive experiences have already been made with training networks in many other districts in Baden-Württemberg.
Training providers are involved in the establishment of the network
In order to prepare the establishment of a training network, a working group was put together, which currently consists of the heads of the three vocational nursing schools located in the district, a representative from the Department of Social Affairs, Nursing and Care, the Head of the Department of Schools Ina Grausam and the Head of the Coordination Office Olesja Ruf. The template for the training association agreement and the rules of procedure for the association's advisory board were drawn up in the working meetings. Following the committee's approval, the next step will be to involve the training providers in the establishment of the training network. The training association can begin its work as soon as the members of the association's advisory board have signed the agreement. The target for this is the first half of 2025.
