Last meeting of the Vaihingen Deanery Synod - District Administrator: Reliable partner in the social sector

District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas was a guest at the last meeting of the district synod of the Protestant church district of Vaihingen an der Enz on Friday (22 November). In his welcoming address, he focused in particular on the long-standing cooperation with the district of Ludwigsburg: "The Protestant church district of Vaihingen an der Enz has always been a reliable partner for the district in the social sector. I hope that this will continue with the new church district of Vaihingen-Ditzingen." The two church districts of Vaihingen and Ditzingen will merge to form the Vaihingen-Ditzingen deanery from January 2020.

In his welcoming address, District Administrator Dr. Haas highlighted two examples of the district's projects with the Protestant church district of Vaihingen an der Enz. The "EinKLINKen" project, which has now been running for eleven years at the clinics in the Ludwigsburg district and is in great demand, is a complete success. A total of around 50 volunteers offer support to patients who need help during or after their hospital stay. The second project he mentioned was the debt counseling service run by the Vaihingen deaconry district office, which has been steadily expanded with the help of the district administration and other partners.

The head of the district administration also emphasized the good cooperation in the district's youth welfare committee and as a cooperation partner of the district administration's social psychiatric service. "As a district, we greatly appreciate the voluntary work, as it complements our work in places where it is urgently needed," said District Administrator Haas. The head of the district administration wanted the churches to work in a social and theological way to combat the growing selfishness in our society. He took this opportunity to thank the Protestant and Catholic churches in the Ludwigsburg district and the Diakonie and Caritas organizations for their trusting cooperation in the various areas throughout his time in office. For the future, he wishes the new Vaihingen-Ditzingen deanery a successful merger and many committed parishioners of all generations who carry the values of the church into everyday life.

The Vaihingen an der Enz deanery is one of the oldest deaneries in the Evangelical Church of Württemberg. The current church district unites 20 parishes with around 30,000 members. The 51 members of the deanery's district synod meet twice a year in public sessions.
