District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas visits urbanharbor with State Secretary Gurr-Hirsch

District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas, together with Friedlinde Gurr- Hirsch MdL, State Secretary in the Ministry for Rural Areas and Consumer Protection, visited the urbanharbor food factory in Ludwigsburg on Wednesday. During the meeting as part of the State Secretary's summer tour, Max Maier, owner and operator of urbanharbor Speisewerk, presented the premises, which opened in fall 2016, and the premises and the production kitchen. District Administrator Haas said during the tour: "I am delighted that there is such an innovative showcase project in our district - This supports our efforts to further promote sustainability in the Ludwigsburg district."

A visit to the Speisewerk focused on the digitalization of gastronomy. District Administrator Haas and State Secretary Friedlinde Gurr-Hirsch learned about the advantages and benefits of the digital kitchen at urbanharbor. Under the motto "Conscious, regional and sustainable", fresh food is cooked daily at the Speisewerk. The processes in the production kitchen are already fully digitalized: With the help of the "Check" digitalization and order system, all processes can be tracked digitally without any gaps. This not only saves time and ensures quality, but also reduces food waste and packaging waste, reported Maier. The long-term goal of urbanharbor is to create maximum transparency from the producer to the consumer.

"The district of Ludwigsburg is very active in the areas of sustainability and regionality," reported District Administrator Haas during the tour. For example, the district recently signed the 2030 Agenda and is committed to the goals of sustainable development. As a model organic region supported by the state, the aim is also to promote regional and organic agriculture in the district, said Haas. Haas noted that urbanharbor's vision at the Ludwigsburg site therefore fits in perfectly with the district's objectives.

A "fresh cuisine" based on regional products is the best thing that can be brought to the table: fresh and creatively prepared, thus of consistently high quality, creatively prepared and with traceable origin of the ingredients. The concept presented today fits in very well with our multi-year regional campaign 'Natürlich. VON DAHEIM', which aims to raise the unmistakable profile of regional foods and their producers among consumers in the sense of 'People.Products.Stories' across all sales channels, including out-of-home catering," concluded Gurr-Hirsch.

The urbanharbor Speisewerk offers six hot meals at lunchtime on weekdays and various snacks in the bistro area from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Andreas Müller from Bönnigheim is responsible for catering at urbanharbor. The urbanharbor complex is home to companies such as Bosch Start-Up, Porsche Design and Porsche Digital.
