The tasks of the Central Emergency Department would not provide for cases that can be adequately treated in an emergency practice due to their medical condition to be treated in a Central Emergency Department, states District Administrator Allgaier.
"It is the patients and the staff in the emergency departments who suffer"
By reducing opening hours, patients who would normally choose the emergency practice are forced to go directly to the emergency room. There has already been a significant increase of 10 to 15 patients per day in the emergency department in Bietigheim-Bissingen. According to the head of the district administration, this not only leads to longer waiting times, but also to the system being overloaded. "The ones who suffer are therefore always our patients and the staff in the emergency departments, and this must stop," demands District Administrator Allgaier.
Should there be further reductions in opening hours or even closures at one or both locations in the district of Ludwigsburg, many more of the patients currently treated in the emergency practices would have to be treated by the respective emergency departments, which would not be possible with the personnel and structural/spatial capacities.
"I am therefore calling on the Baden-Württemberg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians to carefully weigh up the serious consequences of closing or reducing the opening hours of emergency practices and to find alternative solutions within the responsible institution of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians to ensure that patients receive the best possible care," said District Administrator Allgaier.
Regionale Kliniken Holding (RKH) Gesundheit has now gone online with "RKH Care"(https://www.rkh-gesundheit.de/notfall/). This facility is intended to guide patients to the right practitioner and is an innovative contribution to emergency care, although it is not remunerated.
