District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier welcomes carol singers in the foyer of the district building: "You are sending a very strong signal of solidarity"

The chalk sign "20*C+M+B+26" ("Christus mansionem benedicat", "Christ bless this house") has been above the side entrance to the district hall since this Monday (January 5, 2026). Carolers from the Catholic parish of St. Martinus Kornwestheim have placed the blessing there in the style of the Three Kings. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier welcomed the carol singers in the foyer of the district building and said: "Every year, you are committed to children's rights such as protection and education all over the world, sending a very strong signal of solidarity." The motto of this year's campaign is "School instead of factory - carol singing against child labor".

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier welcomed carol singers from Kornwestheim to the district hall.

During the visit, District Administrator Allgaier presented the carol singers with a donation of 300 euros. They were treated to drinks and sweets and received jute rucksacks with sticky notepads and lanyards. "For me, your efforts embody the hope for a better world without child labor, poverty, exploitation and injustice. You inspire children and adults to take a stand against child labor in their own environment or in their own consumption - I thank you very much for that," said Allgaier.

54 million children worldwide work under particularly precarious conditions

This year's Sternsinger campaign focuses on exploitative child labor: the global community actually wanted to end child labor by 2025, but 138 million children between the ages of five and 17 are currently working worldwide, 54 million of them under particularly unhealthy and exploitative conditions. Partner organizations of the Sternsinger are working in many countries to free children from work and enable them to attend school. They organize remedial courses and help working young people to graduate. They also raise awareness among parents, communities, companies and authorities about children's rights, especially the right to protection and education. The carol singers' donations support projects in Bangladesh, where around 1.8 million children are still working, including 1.1 million in exploitative and dangerous conditions.
