Ludwigsburg district publishes first integration report

Integration and immigration have long been a social reality in the Ludwigsbug district. The municipalities in the district and many social actors are committed to integration and successful coexistence in the district. Even in times of pandemic, the district of Ludwigsburg is committed to the integration of immigrants and has published its first integration report.

The district can do a lot for the integration of immigrants - the integration report shows this very clearly. We see ourselves first and foremost as a facilitator and supporting partner. The integration work is primarily carried out by the towns and municipalities, the full-time and voluntary employees and many social actors who are committed to shaping integration on the ground," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier at the presentation of the integration report at the meeting of the Social Affairs Committee.

Immigration and integration are the norm and a necessity in the district of Ludwigsburg. "The district of Ludwigsburg benefits from the many committed people who live and work here. And it will continue to do so in the future. For example, the need for skilled workers in many areas can only be met with immigration and successful integration. But people seeking protection will also find it in the district," says Heiner Pfrommer, Head of Social Affairs.

Integration work in the district of Ludwigsburg has changed bit by bit in recent times, moving away from the focus on the integration of refugees and the sole question of "who needs what support" - the overall focus has been broadened.

"This means consolidating state and voluntary integration work and developing tailor-made offers for the integration of individual groups in order to facilitate integration and make it successful. The aim must be to understand integration as a process that benefits everyone involved," says Dr. Alexandra Diener, Integration Officer for the district of Ludwigsburg. The concept of integration is seen in a wider context in the Ludwigsburg district integration report. Recognizing diversity as an opportunity and potential is central to this.

The 152-page report contains information on data and figures relating to the topic of migration and integration, presents advice and information services for immigrants and provides recommendations for future integration work in the district of Ludwigsburg. The recommendations were developed as part of an integration conference held in November 2020 together with full-time and voluntary stakeholders in integration work in the district of Ludwigsburg.

The integration report can be accessed digitally on the homepage of the district office at https://www.landkreis-ludwigsburg.de/de/soziales-jugend-familie/soziales/integration-und-bildung/integration/ or ordered as a print version from the Ludwigsburg district integration officer, Dr. Alexandra Diener, at alexandra.diener@landkreis-ludwigsburg.de.
