Representatives of companies active in future-oriented fields of the German economy were invited to the workshop. The mix of young growth companies and large established technology companies from fields as diverse as bioeconomy, software development, circular economy, electromobility and battery technology provided a comprehensive insight into the future of the regional economy. "The economic strength of our district is based on its diversity - from family businesses to global market leaders," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. "This is precisely why it is important for us to actively involve companies in our strategy in order to jointly develop sustainable solutions for the future."
In the run-up to the workshop, an online survey was conducted among companies throughout the district. Almost 200 companies took part. The results of the survey and workshop will be incorporated into the further development of the future strategy together with the district's towns and municipalities and many participating institutions. By the summer, fields of action, measures and projects will be developed to sustainably strengthen the attractiveness of the location.
"Insights into the future expectations of these innovative companies help us to set an agenda for the district," emphasized district economic promoter Oliver Reichert during the event. The topics of skilled workers, future skills and cooperation between business and science are of particular strategic interest for further development. However, the right framework conditions in the local infrastructure and support for companies from the administration are also seen as important factors by the companies.
Accompanied by the consulting firm VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, the participants discussed key topics such as securing skilled workers, decarbonization, digitalization, knowledge transfer and other individual challenges. The workshop focused on an interactive, practical approach: after brief thematic impulses, the company representatives developed specific needs as a basis for measures that could be initiated at district level.
