"Kamera läuft" at the New Year's reception - Around 450 guests immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the film in the Reithaus - Producer Nico Hofmann is the evening's interview guest

Welcome to the world of film - that was the motto of this year's New Year's reception of the Ludwigsburg district. Around 500 guests attended the event at the Ludwigsburg Reithaus. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier welcomed Nico Hofmann, one of Germany's most renowned producers and directors, co-founder of the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy and long-standing managing director of UFA, to the stage. Earlier in his New Year's speech, the District Administrator had drawn attention to the chronic underfunding of local authorities and expressed his hope that the ceasefire in Israel would turn into lasting peace so that the people in the Upper Galilee, Ludwigsburg's partner region, could also return to their homes.

Film Academy is a career incubator for young talent

In an interview with presenter Janine Steeger, Nico Hofmann spoke about the opportunities for young talent in the film and media industry and emphasized the importance of the Film Academy for Baden-Württemberg as a media location. District Administrator Allgaier also praised the Film Academy as a career incubator that prepares its students in the best possible way for a successful career in the film and media industry. "For me, the Film Academy is a very positive example of the creativity that can arise when young people actively engage with the media," continued the District Administrator.

Hope for peace in Israel

In addition to the central topic of film, the District Administrator also addressed the war in Ukraine in his speech, which will mark its third anniversary exactly one month after the New Year's reception. He looked to Israel with more confidence due to the ceasefire. Just a few days before the New Year's reception, a delegation from the Upper Galilee visited the Ludwigsburg district. The members had reported on the situation on the ground. "Together, we share the hope that the ceasefire will be followed by lasting peace," said Allgaier.

Budget consolidation and future strategy should make the district fit for the future

With regard to the situation in Germany, the district administrator complained that the federal and state governments were transferring tasks to the districts and municipalities, but not funding them adequately. "The financial situation of local authorities has deteriorated dramatically in the last two years in particular," said Allgaier. The main reasons for this are the deficits in the hospital sector and the cost increases in the social sector as well as in the personnel sector as a result of the high wage agreement. The reserves have essentially been used up. The district is counteracting this with a strategic consolidation process, which also includes the clinics. With its strategy for the future, the district, together with companies and local authorities, is also facing up to the far-reaching process of change in the economy.

Film music and atmosphere frame New Year's reception with numerous guests

Numerous guests accepted the district administrator's invitation, including members of the federal and state parliaments, consuls general and representatives from business, public administration and institutions as well as the arts, culture and sport. The woodwind ensemble of the Besigheim Music School under the direction of Jörg Weiß provided the musical accompaniment to the New Year's reception, while the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy provided the film atmosphere on site with excerpts from their productions on monitors.
