Jutta Grolik receives the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany

LUDWIGSBURG: The Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon was presented to Jutta Grolik by the State Minister for Social Affairs and Integration, Manne Lucha, on Thursday (July 18). During a small ceremony in the district hall, District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas said in his welcoming address: "You have shown exceptional commitment to improving the living conditions and inclusion of physically disabled people in the district of Ludwigsburg."

Three individuals are positioned in an indoor setting. A woman in a wheelchair, dressed in pink, smiles as she holds a document. Two men stand beside her, one in a suit and the other in business attire. A floral arrangement decorates the scene, alongside flags in the background.

"You have been active as a volunteer in numerous working groups in the district of Ludwigsburg for many years," continued District Administrator Haas. In the advisory board "Landkreis Ludwigsburg inklusiv", for example, Jutta Grolik is tirelessly committed to the topic of accessibility in the working groups "Inclusive living for people with disabilities" and "How we envision a self-determined life". "Your achievements include setting up disabled parking spaces outside the Bärenwiese, equipping disabled toilets with Euro locks and setting up at the Ludwigsburg town band's music festival," said the head of the district administration.

"However, they are not limited to the topic of accessibility, but have also been creatively involved in the Tragwerk e.V. association since 2014," added District Administrator Haas. The equal participation of people with and without disabilities or a migration background, regardless of their social class, is an important concern of Jutta Grolik, said the District Administrator in his welcoming address. Jutta Grolik also demonstrates her creativity through the "Friday singing" she organizes at the Karlshöhe care home for the elderly, which takes place as part of the visiting and reading aloud service.

Because she was personally affected by polio at an early age, Jutta Grolik has also been committed to the issue of vaccinations for many years. "Not only in our district, but also nationwide, you are actively raising awareness for regular vaccination refreshers through your work as second deputy spokesperson for the German Polio Association," said District Administrator Haas. Jutta Grolik thus significantly supports the work of the health department through her participation in events on the subject of vaccination.

Jutta Grolik contracted poliomyelitis (polio) at the age of two. For eleven years, the 75-year-old has lived with her husband in a handicapped-accessible apartment at Karlshöhe Ludwigsburg. Jutta Grolik grew up as an ethnic German in what is now the Czech Republic and came to Germany as a late repatriate in 1967. Jutta Grolik received the Ludwigsburg Medal back in 2014.
