District Administrator Allgaier described the further reduction in funding for job centers by 900 million euros from 2025 and the fact that all young people under the age of 25 will then only receive advice from the employment agency as "simply wrong decisions". They will continue to receive subsistence benefits from the job center. This would create new interfaces and counteract the reliable structures that the district of Ludwigsburg has built up with its six job center locations and thanks to its cooperation with the LIGA der freien Wohlfahrtspflege, among others. So far, it has been possible to advise and support the entire household of a family close to where they live. After all, the family environment is crucial in the process of finding a career. If the tasks were now to be broken up, it would be difficult to provide such advice, which includes the family environment. "We run the risk of losing an entire generation here, and not just in view of the shortage of skilled workers," warns the district administrator.
Significant additional costs expected for the district and local authorities
The current plans would mean significant additional costs for the districts and their municipalities. This is because it must be ensured that young people are not left to fend for themselves. "People need reliable points of contact instead of constant fragmentation and postponement of tasks," said District Administrator Allgaier to the members of the Bundestag. "The job centers therefore finally need consistently structured funding instead of the constant question of how the tasks can be financed at all."
