A total of 15 towns and municipalities in the Ludwigsburg district are taking part in CITY CYCLING from July 1 to 21

From July 1 to 21, the district of Ludwigsburg is taking part in the CITY CYCLING campaign for the fourth time. The aim is to beat last year's results together with the participating towns and municipalities and once again show that the district is at the forefront of everyday cycling. "In 2019, we took second place among the districts in Baden-Württemberg. We want to build on this great performance," emphasizes District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. In order to achieve this, citizens are once again called upon to take part in the campaign this year and experience how easy and fun it is to get on their bikes in everyday life. "In view of the coronavirus pandemic, the bicycle is a suitable means of transport for easy and flexible mobility on everyday journeys," explains District Administrator Allgaier. "Cycling is ideal for the daily commute to work, especially now in summer - if you let the fresh headwind blow around your nose in the morning, you not only start the day fitter, but also more relaxed."

Get your own team to the top of the virtual ranking

Anyone who lives, works or belongs to a club in the district of Ludwigsburg can take part in CITY CYCLING from July 1 to 21. The aim of the campaign is to cover as many everyday journeys as possible by bike and to get your team to the top of the virtual ranking. Whether on the way to work or to the shops - every short distance counts. The kilometers can be entered on stadtradeln.de or recorded directly via the CITY CYCLING app. The municipal comparison also counts: in some cities and municipalities, citizens can have their kilometers cycled attributed to their own municipality and thus support their place of residence or work. "Taking part in CITY CYCLING is a great way to strengthen team spirit," explains District Administrator Allgaier. "Because although everyone cycles for themselves, what counts in the end is the joint effort of the virtual team or the municipality." However, joint cycle tours and cycle rallies have been canceled this year. It remains to be seen whether a final event can take place in the fall.

The following towns and municipalities are taking part in CITY CYCLING in the district of Ludwigsburg: Bietigheim-Bissingen, Ditzingen, Freiberg am Neckar, Gerlingen, Korntal-Münchingen, Kornwestheim, Ludwigsburg, Markgröningen, Möglingen, Pleidelsheim, Remseck am Neckar, Sachsenheim, Schwieberdingen, Steinheim and Vaihingen an der Enz. The district administration office will accept further registrations until June 22.

Citizens can register to take part in CITY CYCLING at www.stadtradeln.de/landkreis-ludwigsburg from now on and during the entire campaign period from July 1 to 21. Participation is free of charge. The district is giving away several surprise bicycle packages among all participants.

For a bicycle-friendly mobility culture in Baden-Württemberg

Baden-Württemberg is committed to the development of modern and sustainable mobility. The bicycle and cycling play a central role in this. The RadKULTUR initiative launched by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport in 2012 is committed to promoting a bicycle-friendly mobility culture in the state in order to make mobility behavior in the state sustainable in the long term and to increase the share of cycling in overall traffic. Together with the RadKULTUR municipalities supported by the state, it offers a diverse program to promote the fun of cycling and motivate people to get on their bikes as a matter of course in their everyday lives.
