"The negotiations with the waste disposal companies and the dual systems are characterized by a noticeable willingness to compromise," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. He is confident that it will be possible to enable people in the district to swap their glass box for a glass garbage can. The supervisory board of the district's waste recycling company (AVL) recently signaled its agreement to a compromise line: The costs for a container exchange will be split three ways between AVL, waste disposal companies and the dual systems. This required the agreement of all eleven dual systems in Germany. Now that this has been obtained, there is a good chance that the agreement can also be implemented contractually.
"It would be of no use to citizens if we were to enter into a legal dispute with the dual systems instead of negotiating," emphasizes District Administrator Allgaier. After all, it could be years before a court decision is reached. The district administrator is therefore once again campaigning for the compromise: "With this agreement, we are creating a citizen-oriented, consumer-friendly solution."
The conditions of all three parties for a compromise are now being sounded out at a technical level before the agreement is then contractually fixed. The aim is to have the agreement ready by mid-March.
