The fourth expert discussion "Outpatient measures under the Juvenile Courts Act (JGG) in the district of Ludwigsburg" recently took place on the premises of the Ludwigsburg District Office. As with the previous events in 2014, 2016 and 2018, the initiators (Youth Welfare in Criminal Proceedings of the District Office & the Ludwigsburg Red Cross) succeeded in bringing together the majority of local stakeholders and experts from the field of juvenile delinquency for a professional exchange. The theme of this year's event was "From Like to Offense - Prevention and Response Options for Young People in the Ludwigsburg District".
Ludwigsburg police headquarters shows current phenomena in juvenile delinquency
For a total of 55 people from youth welfare services, probation services, juvenile courts, the police, the public prosecutor's office and specialist and advice centers, the focus on this day was on the police's media prevention work, the media skills course run by the DRK Ludwigsburg as a special response in juvenile criminal proceedings and the work of the STELLWERK specialist center (Jugendhilfe Hochdorf e.V.).
The prevention department of the Ludwigsburg police headquarters first gave the participants an overview of current phenomena of juvenile misconduct and crimes on the Internet and also showed the media prevention offers of the police, which are implemented at secondary schools in the district of Ludwigsburg.
The employees of the "Outpatient Measures under the Juvenile Courts Act" department of the German Red Cross then presented the media skills course they developed in 2020 as a specialized measure in juvenile criminal proceedings. Participants at the event were given a detailed insight into the content and procedures of the course.
The Stellwerk specialist unit of Jugendhilfe Hochdorf e.V. also presented its counseling and educational work, which focuses on sexually transgressive behavior among young people. The institutions mentioned presented the possibilities, methods, framework conditions and also differences in their work in a very practical and differentiated manner.
Common goal: protecting and educating young people from online crimes
An important aim of the expert discussion was to ensure that the judiciary, youth welfare services in criminal proceedings and other agencies involved are aware of suitable measures and services for young people who have committed crimes on the internet and can therefore initiate these measures more effectively. This in-depth specialist knowledge is a crucial prerequisite for preventing young people from (re)offending and for providing them with even better support.
A fundamental, important aspect of the expert discussion is the networking of the various players and institutions that have different tasks and mandates. A local exchange committee of these diverse professions intensifies cooperation and develops positive effects that will benefit the young people in need of help and support. The next expert meeting is planned for 2026.
