First state official Jürgen Vogt (center) welcomed the delegation from Tirebolu and Marbach, including Marbach's mayor Jan Trost (5th from right).

The first state official briefly introduced the district and described the development of the friendship between the two towns, which has existed since 2011 and will culminate in the sealing of a partnership in Marbach town hall on Tuesday evening. "A partnership promotes peace and understanding between nations and different cultures. It deepens the existing friendship and is meaningful and enriching in this way. Especially in times of global challenges, it is necessary to work on common issues and exchange ideas. Those who get to know each other better understand and appreciate each other more and more over time. The district of Ludwigsburg supports this with full conviction," said Vogt. After the welcome, the Turkish guests signed the district's guest book and watched a film about the district of Ludwigsburg.

Marbach is the second town in the district to form a partnership with a Turkish town

After Freiberg, Marbach is the second town in the district to enter into an official partnership with a Turkish town. In total, the 39 towns and municipalities in the district have more than 60 official partnerships. The port city of Tirebolu is located on the Black Sea, has a fishing fleet and is also the administrative center of the district of the same name in the province of Giresun. The city of Tirebolu is known as a tea-growing region and as one of the world's largest hazelnut-growing regions. In Tirebolu, 800,000 tons are harvested each year - that is 70 percent of the world's total hazelnut production.
