"An important contribution to the well-being of children and families"

The "Frühe Hilfen" (Early Help) specialist unit has been the first support service for families with newborn children in the Ludwigsburg district for ten years now. "The Early Help Center makes an important contribution to the well-being of children and families at the interface between education and medicine," said Heiner Pfrommer, Head of Social Affairs, praising the concept.

"We deliberately don't want to wait until the child has literally fallen into the well - if a young family needs help, it should be as low-threshold as possible," said Social Affairs Director Pfrommer, summarizing the idea of Early Help. At the symposium in the Haus der Kirche und Diakonie to mark the tenth anniversary of the Early Help specialist unit, Pfrommer emphasized that the cooperation between the specialist unit and the district administration has been close and professional right from the start. For example, the use of family midwives, who provide early support to young families in need, has proven its worth. It is therefore also regrettable for the specialist unit that the working conditions of midwives are currently deteriorating.

In addition to the family midwives as door openers, there are now also consultation hours at a pediatrician's practice. Both services are very well received and are "successful door openers at the interface with medicine for offers of help", Pfrommer continues. In future, a consultation hour is also to be offered at the early intervention center in Vaihingen. "The Early Intervention Center is a successful example of multi-professional collaboration and has become an integral part of the youth welfare landscape," emphasized Pfrommer.
