Head of Department Andreas Eschbach welcomes Franco-German school group to the district office: "Exchanges increase mutual understanding"

Andreas Eschbach, Head of Central Management and Schools, welcomed a group of twenty Franco-German students to the Ludwigsburg district hall on Thursday (November 28, 2024). The group was made up of students from the vocational and general education Lycée Niépce Balleure in Chalon-sur-Saône (Burgundy) and tenth graders from the 6-year technical high school as well as eleventh graders from the entry class of the vocational high school at the Berufliches Schulzentrum (BSZ) Bietigheim-Bissingen. The two educational institutions have maintained a school partnership since 2023.

A group of twenty students and adults poses together in a well-lit room with wooden paneling. They stand in front of three flags. The adults are positioned at the sides and center, while the students are arranged in a couple of rows. Everyone is smiling.

In his welcoming address, Head of Department Eschbach said: "Student exchanges are good, meaningful and important because they increase mutual understanding." The pupils signed the district's guest book, watched the district film, received a small gift and were invited to eat in the canteen of the district administration office.

The program of the almost one-week visit includes participation in classes at the BSZ, joint work on a Franco-German project and excursions to Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg and Bietigheim with city tours, sightseeing, visits to Christmas markets and museums. The French pupils are accommodated in German host families during their stay.

The partnership between the two schools began in November 2023 with a visit by the German pupils to Chalon-sur-Saône. In December 2023, the French pupils paid a return visit to Bietigheim-Bissingen. Another visit to France is planned for March 2025.
