Corona team at the district administration's health department expanded - District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier: The team's competent and dedicated work helps to break chains of infection

"Our coronavirus team at the district administration's health department is doing a great deal in these challenging times: its dedicated and competent work is helping to break chains of infection - I would like to thank the team members for this," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. The team is responsible for running the hotline, recording infections and contact tracing. It currently consists of 33 employees - 15 additional employees and 18 in-house staff. From October 12, a further nine people will be hired for these tasks, bringing the total number of people in the coronavirus team to 42.

By increasing the number of staff, it is now possible to have six people on duty at weekends. "This is our response to the constantly rising number of new infections in the Ludwigsburg district," explains District Administrator Allgaier. The workload per case is high, as can be seen from one example: One to three calls are required to record a person who has tested positive. If this results in ten contact persons, this means ten initial calls and a further 60 calls for follow-up, i.e. around 70 calls in total. In the further example of an infected pupil, another one to three calls are necessary to record the person who tested positive. If a further 80 pupils are sent into quarantine, that is 80 initial calls and a further 480 calls for follow-up. In this case, the contact tracing calls add up to around 560. "These examples show how complex and time-consuming the work of the coronavirus team is," says District Administrator Allgaier.
