Vogt highlighted some of Fiedler's numerous initiatives and successes. He began by talking about the necessary consolidation measures at the beginning of his first term of office: "With a great deal of commitment and determination, you not only succeeded in reducing debt in the long term - you even left money in the city's coffers." Active citizen participation was also very important to Fiedler: "You are of the opinion that citizens should form their own opinion of the facts," said Vogt. As evidence of this, he cited the citizens' question time at every public meeting, regular consultation hours in the city districts as well as residents' meetings and citizens' meetings on important topics. The first state official also praised Fiedler's pronounced understanding of democracy, which had been demonstrated in the promotion of a lively culture of discussion, the establishment of district councils in Groß- and Kleinsachsenheim, the appointment of district representatives and the development of a mission statement for the entire city with the population. The mission statement gave rise to the citizens' meeting place, which still exists today and develops activities. A youth forum and a community foundation have also been set up.
Vogt continued: "You have cultivated the friendship with the twin town of Valréas in the south of France and with your counterpart and friend Patrick Adrien with great enthusiasm." The First State Official then went on to talk about projects during Fiedler's two terms of office: "You were passionate about renovations and projects that serve the cause in the long term. These include, above all, projects for children and young people: The kindergartens are of a very high standard. The city also renovated the secondary school and community school and had a canteen built - turning the school center into an educational campus." Fiedler said that the development of the Eichwald joint industrial estate was particularly important, where it was possible to attract renowned companies and create 1,200 jobs without setting local businesses back.
"The cooperation between you, us as the district administration and also with me personally has always been extremely constructive and trusting," emphasized Vogt. He was thinking in particular of the topics of "refugee accommodation" and "traffic planning". In addition to Fiedler's "friendly, objective and reliable manner", the fact that he has been a district councillor since 2009 and therefore has "good insight and understanding of the challenges facing the district" probably also contributed to this. The first state official thanked him for this. He wished Fiedler "all the best for his retirement, above all health, happiness and enough leisure time for your hobbies and your family". He presented Fiedler with a farewell certificate and a wine basket and Fiedler's wife with a bouquet of flowers.
