Balance sheet of the Ludwigsburg district vaccination centers

The Ludwigsburg district vaccination centers (KIZ) will close on September 30, in line with all district vaccination centers in the state. At a press conference, District Administrator Allgaier took stock of the last nine months.

Together with Andy Dorroch, General Manager of the KIZ, Dr. Roland Kolepke, Medical Director of the KIZ, and Dr. Carola Maitra, Chairwoman of the District Medical Association, the District Administrator presents the further procedure in the district. From October 1, the responsibility for coronavirus vaccinations will be transferred entirely to doctors in private practice. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier drew a positive conclusion from nine months of KIZ: "With the organization of the KIZ, the district of Ludwigsburg has mastered a really challenging task of fighting the pandemic very well. Even though the KIZs only reached full capacity for a short time due to the vaccine shortage, they were indispensable for coping with the demand for vaccinations in the district."

Around 230,000 vaccinations were carried out in the Ludwigsburg district vaccination centers in the period from 22 January to the closure. That's an average of 915 vaccinations per day; at full capacity, around 2,000 vaccinations would have been possible every day. This capacity was only briefly reached at the end of June. Nevertheless, according to Andy Dorroch, the KIZs were profitable and the overall budget for the country was undercut by as much as 32 percent. Since mid-July, two mobile vaccination buses have been in operation throughout the district for a total of six weeks, carrying out around 6,000 vaccinations. At the moment, four vaccination buses with mobile teams are still on the road, mainly at cultural events. There were also several vaccination campaigns at secondary and vocational schools. These campaigns are proof of this: The district has worked to reach every vaccinated person with flexible and low-threshold vaccination offers.

People whose second vaccination is due from October 1 should make appointments with their GP as soon as possible. If no family doctor is available, the vaccination can be carried out in the Corona focus practices, e.g. in the MVZ Dr. Kolepke and colleagues (appointment booking via: www.mvz-kolepke.de). Dr. Kolepke emphasized on the further procedure: "Even if the KIZs are no longer available, it is important that those willing to be vaccinated continue to have easy access to vaccination offers - we are working on this in close coordination with the district office." Dr. Carola Maitra also reports: "Even after the closure of the KIZ, the district's medical profession is well positioned with the structures created to carry out the outstanding vaccinations for the district's population." In addition to these services, the state will provide 30 mobile vaccination teams by the end of the year, including one in Stuttgart, which will be deployed across the district.
