Suspended vaccinations with AstraZeneca: What those affected need to know now

As reported yesterday, vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine have been temporarily suspended nationwide. The Ludwigsburg District Office has compiled up-to-date information on the subject for those affected.

The staff at the Ludwigsburg District Vaccination Center (KIZ) will contact those who have booked a vaccination appointment with AstraZeneca for the next day by telephone and cancel this appointment. If people cannot be reached, a message will be left on the answering machine. Appointments will only be canceled one day in advance in case vaccinations with AstraZeneca are released at short notice.

All those eligible for vaccination whose appointments have been canceled by the KIZ will be placed on an internal waiting list at the KIZ. The staff at the KIZ will then call those on the list who are eligible for vaccination as soon as AstraZeneca has been released again, according to the order in which they are on the list. This may take some time, but those eligible for vaccination will be contacted and offered a vaccination. This procedure is currently being coordinated with the country.

Anyone who has already had an initial vaccination with AstraZeneca must wait to see if the vaccine is released again. The period between the two vaccination dates can be extended if necessary. The AstraZeneca vaccine doses can be stored for several months.

Vaccination appointments with Biontech are not affected by the stop. Persons entitled to vaccination who have an appointment for a vaccination with Biontech will come to the appointment at the KIZ Ludwigsburg as agreed.
