DE-Mail is a separate nationwide mail system. Communication between an e-mail address and a DE-Mail address is generally not possible. A mailbox is only set up after the provider has established a clear identity (e.g. postal identification procedure, electronic ID card).
Secure login is possible with an electronic ID card, electronic residence permit or with a PIN, which is sent to the user as an SMS when logging in, thus ensuring the user's identity.
Please note that the District Administration Office only accepts legal remedies (objections or appeals) electronically via the De-Mail channel in the transmission variant with confirmed secure registration in accordance with Section 5 (5) of the De-Mail Act. An ordinary e-mail is not sufficient. Letter post is still permissible.
