The district administration would like to use the Europe quiz to awaken and deepen the interest of children and young people in Europe and the European Union (EU). Especially in times when war in Europe is also making young people very insecure, it is important to impart knowledge about the "special construct" of the EU. "We want to ensure that the EU continues to be perceived as a model for success in the future. That it is much more worthwhile to have common goals instead of fighting each other. We all, but you in particular, have the chance to shape the future of the EU," emphasized First State Official Jürgen Vogt at the award ceremony.
In previous years, the award ceremony, together with the European competition, was a major event at the district administration office with around 250 participants. Due to the coronavirus, both the competition and the award ceremony were somewhat smaller this year. The classes that answered all the questions correctly were drawn by lot:
1st place: Gymnasium Korntal-Münchingen, Leistungskurs Gemeinschaftskunde K1
2nd place: Goethe-Gymnasium Ludwigsburg, class 10a
3rd place: Ferdinand-Steinbeis-Realschule Vaihingen an der Enz, class 9a
Games on the theme of Europe were presented as non-cash prizes. The CEO of Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, Dr. Heinz-Werner Schulte, who has been supporting the European quiz with 2,000 euros for many years, stated: "We have been financially supporting this unique and very popular school project from the very beginning, thus promoting education, creativity and the European idea among the pupils."
Mayor Markus Kleemann, the Ludwigsburg district chairman of the non-partisan Europa-Union Deutschland e.V., added: "Communicating the great importance of the common European peace project, which has guaranteed us a life in freedom and security for more than 70 years, to the next generation is more important than ever, especially in these times.
