Cooperation on many levels

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier recently met with representatives of charitable organizations to exchange ideas. Topics discussed at the meeting included refugee work in the district and concerns about energy poverty.

The district administrator noted that there has been successful and trusting cooperation with independent organizations in the area of refugee social work for years. The "Emergency aid for displaced persons from Ukraine" funding program now offers the opportunity to jointly apply for additional funds to employ further integration managers. The accommodation of refugees in the district remains an important and central task. Apartments and accommodation are still needed, which may have to be built in the towns and municipalities. Other current challenges include breaking down the language barrier and integration into the job market, while good solutions were quickly found through the change of legal status to the job center.

It is feared that rising energy costs will lead to immense difficulties, especially for households on a tight budget. It is hoped that further regulations will be introduced to help low-income families and individuals. The enormous cost increases in the area of special forms of housing and care for the elderly are also a cause for concern.

Info:

The Baden-Württemberg League is an association of the eleven leading non-statutory welfare organizations. It is committed to the interests of people who are dependent on help. The spectrum of assistance ranges from kindergartens and facilities for the disabled to debt counseling centers and care facilities for the elderly.

At district level, the 'city and district leagues' form functional equivalents to the regional leagues. The district leagues perform the same functions at municipal level as the state leagues: they serve as a platform for coordination between the welfare organizations and as a point of contact for the relevant decision-makers in matters of social planning and ensuring adequate care for people in need.
