To increase road safety: construction work at the Kaufland intersection starts on February 24, 2025

Construction work to alleviate the accident black spot at the junction of Steinbeisstraße and L 1100 near Kaufland in Steinheim will begin on Monday, February 24, 2025. Right-turners coming from Murr will reach Steinbeisstraße via Höpfigheimer Straße.

The accident black spot at the Kaufland junction in Steinheim will be structurally adapted from February 24, 2025. The accident commission, which consists of representatives from the road traffic authority, the road construction authority and the police, has decided to shorten the turning lane and remove the existing triangular island so that the junction functions like a crossroads. This will force drivers turning right to slow down. The aim is to ensure that drivers turning left from Steinbeisstrasse and those turning left coming from Großbottwar can better assess the flow of traffic.

A structural lane separation will be implemented on the center line

These driving relationships have led to accidents in the past. To prevent turning traffic from being overtaken, a structural lane separation is to be implemented on the center line with the help of beacons. This separation will be implemented as soon as the material has arrived.

Right-turning traffic will be diverted via Höpfigheimer Straße

The L 1100 will be open to traffic throughout the construction period. It will also still be possible to turn left at the junction coming from Großbottwar. Only right-turning traffic will have to be diverted via the junction to district road 1610, Höpfigheimer Straße, until February 27, 2025.
