The Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium, the Goethe-Gymnasium and the Lembergschule elementary school in Ludwigsburg, the Hillerschule and Schillerschule elementary school in Bietigheim-Bissingen and the Silcherschule in Kornwestheim are among the award-winning schools. Representatives of the respective schools were presented with the "Healthy School" certificate by District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier on Tuesday at the Kreishaus.
Some schools have been contributing to health-promoting school life for years. Certificates in the areas of exercise, nutrition and the prevention of addiction and violence are awarded for four years at a time. The elementary school mentioned also achieved the overall certificate in all three areas. As an additional "reward", they each received 100 euros from the district for the implementation of further meaningful projects.
The Healthy School Network was launched in 2003. Coordinated by the Health and Consumer Protection Department of the Ludwigsburg District Office, the aim of the regional network is to anchor health promotion as a focal point in daycare facilities and schools. "The Healthy School project is something very valuable," emphasized District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. He thanked the schools for the important work they do to support a healthy lifestyle.
The concept of the "Healthy School?!" network is becoming increasingly important, especially in times of digitalization and the resulting lack of physical activity. "Exercise and healthy eating are playing an increasingly important role at all-day schools," emphasized Allgaier. "It is still important to us that you continue this important work in your schools." The District Administrator agreed with Dr. Uschi Traub, Head of Health Promotion at the District Office, that they would like to motivate even more schools to join the "Healthy School?!" network and achieve certification in one or all three areas. "Equal health opportunities" are immensely important, emphasized Uschi Traub. Poor posture and malnutrition among children, as well as premature disability among teachers, are on the rise. Certification therefore also serves to improve the overall school climate.
