How caregiving relatives can be relieved - information and discussion offer at weekly markets in Ludwigsburg, Bietigheim and Vaihingen in June

Many spouses and children are highly committed to providing the necessary care and support for their relative in need of care on a daily basis. This is why planned time out is so important to help them cope better with everyday life. In addition to providing information on respite care services, the staff at the PflegeFrei advice center and the district's care support point would like to talk to citizens about the "right to time out". This will be made possible by a stand at the weekly markets in Ludwigsburg on June 12, in Bietigheim on June 19 and in Vaihingen/Enz on June 26.

People with caring and nursing responsibilities need predictable time off. This is a necessity that often poses major challenges for family caregivers. In addition to a lack of respite services, concerns and fears on the part of the person with care needs often prevent them from taking advantage of them. Discussions at the weekly market stalls can focus on the following questions, for example: How do you as a family caregiver deal with the situation on a day-to-day basis? What ideas and wishes do you have for improving care structures?

CareFree model project

Since October 2019, the district of Ludwigsburg has been focusing on a wide range of home care options with the PflegeFrei model project to enable family caregivers to take a vacation, meet up with family, take time for their own health or enjoy a few days off at home. The district-wide "Give the gift of time out" campaign is currently underway. People from the local area become active and stand in for the family carer for a weekend at home. Our aim is to establish and develop sustainable structures to strengthen caring communities. If you have any questions about the model project, please contact the PflegeFrei advice center, phone: 07141 144-69971, email: kurzzeitpflege[at]landkreis-ludwigsburg.de

Care support centers provide information

Citizens can also find out about the services offered by the local care support centers. The staff are represented there in person and offer helpful information on topics such as outpatient assistance, meals on wheels, home help, barrier-free living, support services for family caregivers, living with dementia and technical and other aids. Interested parties can also find out interesting facts about day, short-term and long-term care as well as care insurance benefits and other social service providers. The care support centers also have tips and brochures on the topics of care directives, powers of attorney and living wills.
