Lecture by Laura Fröhlich on March 14 at the Kreishaus on International Women's Day: "Mental Load" and the consequences for those affected

To mark International Women's Day, Laura Fröhlich will be giving a talk entitled "Mental Load: If a woman doesn't think about it, no one will!". Fröhlich is an author and expert on the subject. Participation on March 14 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the large conference room of the Ludwigsburg district hall is free of charge after registration.

The term "mental load" draws attention to the problem and value of unpaid care work, which is mainly carried out by women: They take care of the household, children, nursing and all the other everyday tasks. According to the State Statistical Office, on average, women perform 43.8% or one hour and 17 minutes more unpaid family and care work than men every day. This puts women at an economic disadvantage.

How care work can be sufficiently valued

In her fascinating presentation, Fröhlich explains the concept of "mental load" and the consequences for those affected. She presents solutions and shows how care work can finally be "fairly shared" and sufficiently valued.

The keynote lecture will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2024, 10.00 to 11.30 a.m., in the Ludwigsburg district hall, Hindenburgstraße 40, large conference room. All interested parties, women and men as well as people with other gender identities, are welcome to attend. After the talk, there will be time for discussion over drinks.

Please register via gleichstellungsbeauftragte[at]landkreis-ludwigsburg.de (stating your full name) by 11.03.2024. Participation is free of charge. The event is organized by the Equal Opportunities Officer of the Ludwigsburg district. Information also available at www.landkreis-ludwigsburg.de/gleichstellung in the "News" section.

Since 1911, women have been celebrating "International Women's Day" on March 8 to draw attention to women's rights and gender equality worldwide. The day is intended to celebrate the achievements of women's rights movements to date, draw attention to existing discrimination and inequalities and encourage people to work towards equality for women themselves.
