Traffic opening for district road 1653 between Heimerdingen and the traffic circle - District Administrator Allgaier: Road widening was necessary to ensure road safety

The district road 1653 between Ditzingen-Heimerdingen and the K 1653/1654 traffic circle was reopened to traffic on Monday afternoon. In his welcoming address, District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier was pleased that the five and a half months planned for the expansion of the road had been adhered to. "The widening was necessary to ensure road safety: the road had some damage and a varying road width - now the road has a continuous minimum road width of 6.50 meters," explained the head of the district administration.

A group of people stands on a road holding a large ribbon, preparing to cut it during an event. Several individuals are gathered around, and a tent is visible in the background, indicating a formal ceremony, likely for a new road opening or similar celebration.

Cutting the ribbon (from right): District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, Member of the State Parliament Konrad Epple, Heimerdingen's local head Bernhard Arzt, Ditzingen's Lord Mayor Michael Makurath and Ditzingen's Mayor Ulrich Bahmer.

District Administrator Allgaier also emphasized that the striking "Green Gate" group of trees could be preserved during the expansion without the road builders having to encroach on adjacent properties. A root bridge had been specially constructed for the chestnut tree at the water intake so that it would not be damaged.

"I hope that this upgraded road will lead all those who will use it to their destination more safely," said District Administrator Allgaier at the end of his welcome address.

The 1.1 kilometer long section between the K 1653 from Ditzingen-Heimerdingen to the K 1653/1654 traffic circle, including the renovation of the traffic circle's surface and the construction of a footpath and cycle path on Hochdorfer Straße, cost a total of 1.7 million euros. Of this, the district is paying 1.5 million euros. The remaining 200,000 euros for the footpath and cycle path will be borne by the town of Ditzingen. The section from the K 1653/1654 traffic circle to Eberdingen-Hochdorf was already expanded in 2017/2018.
