Companies protect the climate

This is the second time that companies from the Ludwigsburg district have successfully completed the KLIMAfit network project. These included Wüstenrot Haus- und Städtebau, Mercedes Benz AMG from Affalterbach, Karl Stein & Söhne from Freiberg am Neckar, the Karlshöhe Foundation from Ludwigsburg and Colordruck Baiersbronn, a guest company from the district of Freudenstadt. The participants have now been honored for their commitment at a closing event.

A group of 16 people, standing and sitting on a green couch, hold certificates while posing for a photo. The setting appears to be an indoor space with wooden walls. The atmosphere is celebratory, suggesting the group has achieved a milestone or recognition.

Jürgen Vogt (back center), First State Official, has now awarded the participating companies for their commitment to climate protection as part of the KLIMAfit network project (Ludwigsburg District Office).

The first state official, Jürgen Vogt, awarded certificates to the companies, which vary greatly in size and sector, for their commitment to climate protection. "One third of CO2 emissions are caused by each of these sectors: Trade, commerce and services as well as transport and private households. Industry is therefore an important lever for climate protection," says Vogt. The win-win effect is that costs are reduced at the same time.

The participants were also enthusiastic about the project. "The external support is very important! We've been doing something for climate protection for years, and now it's coordinated," said Martin Stein, Managing Director of Karl Stein & Söhne GmbH.

Participants draw up greenhouse gas balance sheet

Over the past nine months, the participating companies have worked together to tackle the issue of climate protection. In workshops and on-site meetings, they drew up a greenhouse gas balance sheet with the support of network consultant Arqum. This served as the basis for measuring climate impact and identifying potential measures to increase energy efficiency. "You can only reduce emissions if you are aware of them," said Lea Hagenlocher, Sustainability Manager at Wüstenrot Haus- und Städtebau. The workshops also encouraged exchange and inspired new ideas.

Third round to begin shortly

The third round of the project in the Ludwigsburg district will start in the summer. An online information event will take place on June 18, 2024 at 2 pm. Interested companies can register at Wifoe[at]landkreis-ludwigsburg.de.
