According to previous findings, a large quantity of liquid was illegally disposed of in the area of the water tower late on Thursday afternoon. Rising vapors caused the water in the tank to become contaminated. The public prosecutor's office is investigating.
Despite a rapid response by the municipality of Möglingen, contaminated water has already entered the supply network. A sample of the contaminated water is currently being analyzed in the laboratory. The population will be informed as soon as the analysis is available.
Important recommendations for the safe use of drinking water
Boiling the water is not sufficient to remove the contamination. The water is not yet approved for consumption, oral hygiene such as brushing teeth, or for cleaning wounds, as the final laboratory analysis is not yet available.
The public health department advises that all indoor and outdoor water pipes should be allowed to run for at least 10 minutes. The tap water can then be used for showering, bathing or washing. Dishwashers and washing machines should also be left running empty.
People returning from vacation are advised to flush all pipes for at least 10 minutes after their return.
The following instructions from the health authorities still apply:
- Do not drink tap water
- Do not use tap water to prepare food
- Do not use tap water to brush your teeth or clean open wounds
Citizens are asked to strictly follow these instructions.
