Animal reinforcement at the district office

Service dog "Keks" was officially presented to District Administrator Dr. Haas last week. Keks recently joined the Social Psychiatric and Social Medical Service (Spdi) of the health department at the district administration office. He is following in the footsteps of the therapy dog "Zacky", who has been working at the district administration office since 2016.

A woman holds a small dog while standing next to a man. They are both smiling, with a modern office environment in the background. The scene conveys a sense of warmth and companionship between the people and the dog.

Laura Ferring, social worker at the health department and owner of Keks, informed District Administrator Dr. Haas about the tasks of a therapy dog. For example, he can act as a bridge for clients of the Spdi with his open and friendly nature and serve as a conversation opener. He also helps to reduce stress, builds trust and reduces anxiety, said Ferring about Keks. Overall, Keks always manages to create a positive atmosphere among colleagues and Spdi clients thanks to his manner. Laura Ferring completed six months of additional training with Keks to become a therapy companion dog team.

The district council's social psychiatric and social medical service advises and supports people with psychiatric illnesses and in difficult social situations. The advice center is located at Königsallee 59/2, 71638 Ludwigsburg, and can be reached on the service number 07141/144-2029.
