Strohgäubahn: Timetable improvements from March 2, 2020

At its most recent meeting on December 10, the association meeting of the Strohgäubahn special-purpose association approved a comprehensive package to further increase the attractiveness of the railroad line between Korntal and Heimerdingen. Implementation will take place in two stages.

A brightly colored yellow and green train is traveling along a track surrounded by lush grass and blooming dandelions, under a cloudy sky. The train features large windows and a modern design, emphasizing its vibrant colors in the natural landscape.

Since September 2018, the Strohgäubahn has been running its entire route from Korntal to Ditzingen-Heimerdingen. The service is very popular and passengers are taking up the offer so well that the trains are sometimes very crowded. These capacity bottlenecks are now being eliminated by using longer trains. In addition, additional journeys, initially in the evening hours, will further increase the attractiveness and appeal to new passengers.

Additional trains will be available to passengers from March 2, 2020:

The operating time of the Strohgäubahn will be extended by one hour. The last journey will now take place daily at 00:05 from Korntal and 00:31 from Heimerdingen. Passengers traveling from Stuttgart will therefore have a larger time window available and can use the S-Bahn from Stuttgart Stadtmitte at 11.46 p.m. as the latest option for their journey home. Previously, the last option was the S-Bahn at 22:46.

The half-hourly service during the week will be extended by two hours. Two additional journeys will be introduced at 9.35 pm and 10.35 pm. In future, the half-hourly service will be available until 11.05 pm from Korntal and 11.31 pm from Heimerdingen instead of 9.05 pm.

The next change will be implemented with the timetable change in December 2020. The half-hourly service will then also run on Saturdays on the Strohgäubahn.
