45,117 kilometers cycled - that is the proud achievement of Mörike-Gymnasium Ludwigsburg in the three-week city cycling competition. This means 1st place in the district. The team, which includes pupils, teachers and parents, has a total of 341 members and is therefore also ahead in terms of size.

The hard-working cyclists will be rewarded by the Ludwigsburg District Office with 150 euros for the school account. The money is to be used for sustainable projects. At the award ceremony on December 14, the cycling officer from the nearby district office will cycle past, carrying a mountain of chocolate, as the pupils should also have something "on their hands" for their efforts. Manuel Holler, teacher at Mörike-Gymnasium and organizer of the competition, is delighted with his team's good performance: "The city cycling competition came at just the right time for us, as we at Mörike-Gymnasium Ludwigsburg are working hard on our #machhaltigkeit, a sustainable school program. Mobility plays an important role in environmental protection. We were overwhelmed by the great response to cycling and are proud of our committed school community."

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier is delighted with the success: "The commitment at Mörike-Gymnasium shows that climate protection is very important to young people. Cycling is not only a bit of freedom, it also helps the environment. Of course, we hope that this climate-friendly mode of transportation will be maintained later in adult life."

The other winners are: The three most cycling-active municipalities Oberriexingen, Schwieberdingen and Markgröningen as well as the second and third-placed teams (Bosch@SI and the W&-W Group team) were each delighted to receive a cash donation to an organization of their choice, while the individual cyclists received gift packs.

The district took part in city cycling for the fifth time in 2021, now with 25 district municipalities. The district came 3rd in the state ranking this year.
