The images of the thundering masses of water in Walheim and Löchgau or the flooded areas in Benningen and Remseck were all over the media. The emergency services from the fire department, THW, rescue services and the police worked tirelessly to deal with the consequences of the masses of rain and to help the people on the ground. Fortunately, the storms in the district of Ludwigsburg did not cost any lives, but the material damage to those affected is enormous and itwill be some time before it is fully repaired.
District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier was shocked by the extent of the destruction and praised the commitment of the emergency services: "The heavy rainfall and the associated flooding have left a trail of devastation in our districts. I am deeply impressed by the solidarity and tireless efforts of all the helpers. Our thanks go to everyone who is providing support at this difficult time."
In order to help those affected quickly and effectively, the Ludwigsburg district, the Rems-Murr district and the districts of Göppingen and Ostalbkreis are appealing for donations. The donations received will be used to support people in need, repair damaged schools and club facilities and finance other necessary relief measures. "Every donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference," says District Administrator Allgaier.
