Donation handed over for children's and youth hospice service: Football for a good cause

An exhibition on topics relating to the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany was presented at the beginning of March as part of the "Regional Window" in the district hall. An after-work table football tournament also raised money for the Ludwigsburg Children's and Youth Hospice Service. The money was presented to Michael Friedmann from the outpatient children's and youth hospice service of the Ökumenische Hospizinitiative im Landkreis Ludwigsburg e.V. on Wednesday (March 20).

Two people stand beside a foosball table, smiling. One person, wearing a blue sweater, holds a trophy, while the other, in a green sweater, presents an award. Behind them, there is a large screen displaying a tournament schedule for UEFA Euro 2024.

Stefanie Bartzsch hands over the money collected from the table football tournament to Michael Friedmann from the Outpatient Children's and Youth Hospice Service (Ludwigsburg District Office).

Germany is hosting the European Football Championship this year. Stuttgart is also hosting four preliminary round matches and one quarter-final match. The district of Ludwigsburg is looking forward to welcoming a large number of guests who will also be visiting the district of Ludwigsburg around the time of the games.

From February to March, an exhibition on topics relating to the European Championship was presented in the district hall as part of the "Regional Window". A table football table in the exhibition area invited visitors to play. The employees of the Ludwigsburg District Office got in the mood for the match days in Stuttgart with an after-work table football tournament.

A total of 14 teams competed for victory and the first prize - a fan tour of VfB Stuttgart in the MHP Arena Stuttgart. All teams were fully committed, physically active and had a lot of fun at the table. The team "FC Staniel Bommer" with Stina Sommer and Daniel Bertsche from the Asylum and Migration department ultimately won the final.

200 euros collected for the Ludwigsburg children's and youth hospice service association

No entry fee was charged to participants in the table football tournament, but a donation was requested. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier generously rounded up the amount and together they were able to "kick" 200 euros for the Ludwigsburg Children's and Youth Hospice Service Association.

"It is a personal concern for all of us to know that families and those affected are not alone at this difficult time. The work of the hospice services is a very important building block in our society and we feel the need to make a small contribution here for the youngest members of our society," says Stefanie Bartzsch, Head of the District Development Climate Protection, Sustainable Mobility and Tourism department. The donation has now been handed over to the association for outpatient children's and youth hospice services. Michael Friedmann from the outpatient children's and youth hospice service in the Ludwigsburg district accepted the donation and was delighted with the campaign by the district office.

The important work of the Ludwigsburg outpatient hospice service for children and young people

The Ludwigsburg outpatient hospice service for children and young people advises and supports families in which a family member is seriously ill or has already died. Hospice specialists offer space for discussions, individual support from trained volunteers; group offers and various projects for those affected are just part of this work. "Our basic attitude is 'WE are there' - we give time and are open to what children and young people, affected families, siblings and parents are currently dealing with. We provide support in times of farewell and grief and are open to the thoughts and questions of the bereaved," says Friedmann. Further information is available at kinderhospiz-lb.hospiz-bw.de.
