Donation for refugee Ukrainian children of pre-school age: reading books, games and hand puppets with Karlchen

Employees from the Asylum and Migration Department recently collected a donation of books, games and hand puppets for refugee Ukrainian children in the Ludwigsburg district in Bietigheim-Bissingen.

A man and a woman stand in front of a bookstore window filled with books and a colorful display. The woman, wearing a red dress, holds a book, while a puppet resembling a character from children's literature is positioned beside them. Boxes are stacked behind them.

Handing over the donation: Martin Schliereke, Head of the Asylum and Migration Department at the District Office, and bookseller Barbara Knieling from Lieblingsbuch-Laden in Bietigheim-Bissingen.

These are 100 "Guten Tag, Karlchen" reading books for pre-school children - bilingual in Ukrainian and German -, 40 memory games and 30 quartets from the "Karlchen spielt" series as well as eleven Karlchen hand puppets. The donation comes from the Hanser publishing house and was offered to the district administration office by bookseller Barbara Knieling from Lieblingsbuch-Laden in Bietigheim-Bissingen.

The social services department of the district office will now distribute the books and games to the Ukrainian pre-school children who have fled their homes and whose parents were often only able to take very little with them from home. The hand puppets will be passed on by the social services department to places that offer childcare services for refugee children, such as the child protection association, voluntary services or playgroups as part of social care.
