Groundbreaking ceremony for school village at Favoritepark

The ground-breaking ceremony marks the start of the realignment of the school village at Favoritepark. By mid-2024, a new timber construction for the Fröbelschule and the school at Favoritepark is expected to cost 7.1 million euros.

A group of diverse individuals stands in a line, wearing white hard hats, holding shovels and other tools. They are gathered at a construction site, preparing for a groundbreaking ceremony. The background features trees and a clear sky, indicating a sunny day.

"There is nothing more permanent than a temporary solution," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier at the ground-breaking ceremony for the new three-storey building, which is now to replace the "short-term" temporary building erected in September 2000. However, the mobile units were already taken away during the Easter vacation. Now a modern and needs-based new building is to be constructed over the next two years to address the acute shortage of space at the Fröbelschule and the neighboring school at Favoritepark. "We are not always said to be flexible in administration, but we were here," Allgaier said appreciatively to the members of the district council present, and thanked the state in advance for the funding approval already granted for the originally planned two-storey new building and the prospect of funding for the additional 1.5 million euro extension. "The additional costs for the extension are money well invested in the future of our young people in the district."

The school village at Favoritepark with its 400 pupils will then have sufficient classrooms and space for differentiation and therapy. "This will ease the space situation in the main buildings," said Peter Krause, head of the school at Favoritepark. In the new building specifically for the primary level, there will also be space for school social work, early intervention and counseling, added Petra Zey, head of the Fröbelschule.

The extension will now meet the increasing demand for young people with special needs as close to home as possible according to the school development plan, as well as providing extracurricular after-school care, which will be mandatory from the 2026/27 school year. The Liebenau Foundation will offer reliable residential care in Ludwigsburg from 2024, which means that one to two additional school classes can be expected. "It's nice to see that inclusion is not understood in a one-sided way," said Renate Schmetz, First Mayor of the city of Ludwigsburg. The special education and counselling centers with their specialization in supporting the individual needs of children continue to be important. "With this far-sighted spatial program, we are well positioned for the future."

Info: A total of eight group rooms and intermediate differentiation and inclusion rooms are planned in the new building, which measures around 32 by 19 meters. A school kitchen, a library and a staff room complete the space on offer. A further two group rooms are planned for the extended 2nd floor, as well as the necessary counseling and administration rooms, a meeting room, two rooms for early childhood counseling, two rooms for the school social workers, two offices for counseling and a theater room. A PV system is planned for the roof.
