Spätlingsmarkt: Fruit brandy award and donation presentation - District Administrator Allgaier hands over 33 certificates to winners and donation from stall operators for Invitare Foundation

The winners of the fruit brandy awards at the Spätlingsmarkt have been announced: District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, together with Baden-Württemberg's distillate queen Vera Bullinger, presented a total of 33 certificates to small distillers in the atrium of the first extension to the district hall on Thursday afternoon. This year, he handed over the donation of 2,500 euros from the stand operators to the Invitare Foundation.

Connoisseurs and lovers of regional fruit brandies are eagerly awaiting the results of the test before stocking up on the top-class treasures at the stand of the Small Distillers and Fruit Distillers Association of North Württemberg in the foyer of the district hall at the Spätlingsmarkt. Two commissions with a total of five tasters tested the distillates. 75 brandies, spirits, marc brandies, whiskies and gins were submitted this year. Almost half of the specialties submitted were awarded 18 to 20 points, the highest award range. The very best brandy was chosen from the range of brandies with the highest score: a quince brandy from Bietigheim-Bissingen from the Roland Vollmer distillery.

"The care and preservation of the orchards in the district of Ludwigsburg is an important concern for the distilleries and lovers of regional distillates, but also for the district administration. The fruit brandy award is a small contribution to this - a combination of enjoyment and landscape conservation," said District Administrator Allgaier. A new trend is significant. Many of the experienced distillers are trying their hand at new products. This year, for example, 17 gins and whiskies were submitted for the award for the first time. "An impressive result," Allgaier was pleased to say, summing up: "Our distillers, with their extensive experience, are very successfully meeting the needs of younger customers."

Vera Bullinger, the current distillate queen of the Small Distillers and Fruit Distillers Association, advocated the preservation of orchards in her speech at the award ceremony. Above all, she called on her peers to go "orchard swimming".

This year, the 2,500 euro donation from the stand operators was presented to the Invitare Foundation for Mother and Child. Invitare is a charitable foundation and runs emergency shelters for women with children as well as a second-hand store in Ludwigsburg in addition to an advice center in Mörikestraße. The foundation has been in existence since 1998 and supports pregnant girls and women, single fathers and mothers as well as people in crisis and emergency situations. In addition to its advisory services, the foundation offers STEP parenting courses, themed evenings and open meetings for people aged 60 and over, and currently also offers temporary workspaces and rooms for rent.
