Training series "To good neighborliness - dementia companions": participants certified

40 participants in the training series "Auf gute Nachbarschaft - Demenzbegleiter" ("Here's to being a good neighbor - dementia companion") from the specialist advice service for the elderly have learned the basics of dementia, its effects and communication options. They have now received their certificates.

A large group of people stands together, smiling and holding certificates. They are gathered indoors, with a mix of men and women of various ages, indicating a celebration or recognition event. A few individuals are positioned in the front, showcasing their certificates prominently.

Volunteering for people with dementia has many positive aspects: It relieves the burden on carers, provides variety in the everyday lives of people with dementia - and also enriches those who get involved.

With 40 participants, more interested people than ever before have been qualified in a training series. The focus of all six course modules was on the person with their individual biography, abilities and resources. The aim of the training series is to create successful relationships in a changing everyday life.

"Civic engagement is a key element in shaping demographic and social change. The challenges of the future can only be tackled together. This makes the great demand for the training courses offered by our specialist advice service for the elderly all the more pleasing," says District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas.

In addition to the certificate, the participants have also acquired the Dementia Partner certificate from the German Alzheimer's Society and are thus carrying the idea of a dementia-friendly community into the district.
