Traffic will soon be flowing freely again on the K 1682

District Road K 1682 between the junction with L 1125 near Kleinglattbach and the roundabout on L 1131 near Horrheim will undergo repairs starting Monday morning, August 17. The road will be completely closed in both directions for the duration of the work. The closure affects both passenger car and truck traffic. The work is expected to be completed within five days.

A red and white barrier blocks a deserted road flanked by green trees. Two red traffic lights indicate the closure of the road ahead, signaling to drivers that passage is restricted.

District Road K 1682, between the junction with L 1125 near Kleinglattbach and the roundabout on L 1131 near Horrheim, will undergo repairs starting Monday morning, August 17.

A detour via Sersheim will be set up for traffic (detour map: Ludwigsburg District Office).

The approximately 1,700-meter-long section of road underwent a complete overhaul in 2011. Now, 15 years later, the asphalt surface course is in a condition that requires initial rehabilitation. To keep the duration of the necessary road closure as short as possible, a fast and cost-effective construction method is being used.

As part of the project, the “thin asphalt layers using the cold-mix method” construction technique is being applied. In this process, the existing surface course is generally left intact. Only the road markings will be milled off first. Subsequently, a bitumen surface treatment approximately two centimeters thick will be applied and coated with grit to improve traction.

Detour via Sersheim

A detour via Sersheim will be set up for traffic. Road users should expect longer travel times. The detour is expected to remain in place for about one week.

Bus service is also affected by the detour. Due to the longer route, buses will have slightly longer travel times. Bus stops are not affected.

District Covers Costs

The cost of the rehabilitation project amounts to approximately 180,000 euros and will be covered in full by the district.

The project has significance beyond the specific rehabilitation of the K 1682: If the cost-effective and rapid construction method used proves successful, it could also be applied to less-trafficked sections of road in the future. This would allow for cost-effective rehabilitation of these sections without requiring a complete replacement of the road surface.

The District Office asks all road users and residents for their understanding regarding the disruptions and restrictions associated with the construction project.
