Snowy night: district takes positive stock of the winter road clearance service

After the snowy night, the district council's roads department takes stock: winter road maintenance was largely trouble-free and there were only a few isolated icy accidents. Between 5.30 p.m. on Sunday evening and 6 a.m. on Monday morning, the road maintenance staff were in action. During the course of today, the winter road clearance service will continue to be deployed at certain points to clear snow accumulations.

A snowplow truck is parked on a snowy road. The vehicle is orange with a front-mounted blade for clearing snow. It has a blue container in the back, likely for holding salt or sand. Surrounding trees and a building are partially visible in the background.

A total of 35 employees were on the road with 22 snow clearing vehicles, including 27 employees from the district and eight external employees from a civil engineering company. In addition, employees at the depots ensured that the vehicles were loaded. "Last night's operation shows once again how reliably and professionally our road maintenance depots work. I would like to thank all employees for their dedicated and responsible work, which made a significant contribution to road safety in the district," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.

Continued risk of icy roads: district well prepared for further operations

Another operation is planned for the coming night, as freezing wet conditions are expected. Snowfall on the same scale as last night is not currently expected. "The district is well equipped both in terms of personnel and technology and is prepared for further operations," says Jürgen Vogt, Head of Law, Order and Traffic. Due to possible icy conditions, especially during the night and in the morning, all road users are advised to continue to exercise increased caution.
