Renovation of the K 1657 through Gerlingen from June 30, 2025

On behalf of the district of Ludwigsburg, the comprehensive renovation of the district road K 1657 in the Gerlingen thoroughfare will begin on Monday, June 30, 2025. In addition to the renewal of the damaged asphalt surface, the construction project also includes the renovation of supply lines and the barrier-free expansion of the Ringstraße bus stop. The aim is to increase road safety, sustainably improve the infrastructure and optimize conditions for cyclists.

The city of Gerlingen is participating in the project by renovating the water pipes and the sewer. In addition, NetzeBW is laying a medium-voltage line.

Traffic routing and restrictions

The K 1657 Leonberger Straße is being renovated from the Rosenstraße junction to the "Im Bonholz" field path junction, approximately 500 meters before the bridge over the freeway. The work is expected to take around three months. During this time, sections of the K 1657 will be fully closed to cars, cyclists, pedestrians and bus traffic.

A local detour will be signposted for motorized traffic. It will lead from Leonberg via Ditzingen to Gerlingen and in the opposite direction.
The Ringstraße industrial estate will remain accessible from Leonberg via the K 1657 during construction phases 1 and 2. In construction phase 3, access is only possible from the direction of Gerlingen.

Bus route 635 is affected by the measures, in particular the Ringstraße and Leonberger Straße stops. Passengers are asked to inform themselves about timetable changes, cancellations and bus stop relocations

Work on K 1657 will be carried out in three sections

The work will be carried out in three construction phases. The existing asphalt surface will be renewed in all construction phases, and the water pipe, sewer and underground power supply will also be renovated or relocated.

The first construction phase runs from Rosenstrasse to Holderäckerstrasse. In the second construction phase (Holderäckerstraße to Ringstraße), the northern bus stop "Ringstraße Nord" will be converted to make it barrier-free in addition to the work on the asphalt, water pipes, sewer and power lines. In the third and final construction phase (Ringstrasse to "Im Bonholz"), the "Ringstrasse Süd" bus stop will be converted to make it barrier-free. In this section, the intersection area will be optimized for bicycle traffic.

Joint measure for sustainable infrastructure
The renovation of the district road is urgently required due to numerous pavement depressions and cracks. Thanks to close coordination between the district, the town of Gerlingen and NetzeBW, synergies can be exploited and the construction period can be organized efficiently.

The total construction costs amount to around 920,000 euros. Of this, the district of Ludwigsburg will bear around 470,000 euros, with the remainder being borne by the town of Gerlingen.

The Ludwigsburg District Office asks all residents and road users for their understanding for the resulting restrictions.
