A guest in the district hall: District President Susanne Bay discussed future issues with District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier (Ludwigsburg District Office).

"The municipal level bears great responsibility - it directly shapes the reality of people's lives. This is why the state also supports the important work of the municipal level financially, for example through various specialist funding programs. At the same time, an open and constructive exchange is essential in order to find viable solutions for the challenges ahead," said District President Susanne Bay.

During the visit, the agenda included an exchange on various topics with the head of administration, including the district's budget consolidation, the climate mobility plan and the planned disaster control center.

Setting the course for sustainable mobility in the district

The climate mobility plan is to be adopted by the district council in July and will serve as a guideline for more sustainable mobility in the district. "By implementing the climate mobility plan, we want to ensure a high quality of life in the district, because sustainable mobility goes far beyond pure climate protection," emphasized the district administrator.

Concern about the financial situation of the districts

District Administrator Allgaier looked with concern at the critical budget situation of the districts and emphasized that it would be more difficult in future to push ahead with important future issues given the tight financial leeway. "Especially in the current crisis-ridden times, a strong and efficient municipal level is important for the citizens," said District Administrator Allgaier. By consolidating its budget, the district is keeping the reins of action in its own hands. Nevertheless, it is essential that the federal and state governments provide appropriate funding for tasks that they delegate to the municipal and district levels.
