District President Wolfgang Reimer visited the three vocational schools Oscar-Walcker-Schule, Mathilde-Planck-Schule and Robert-Franck-Schule am Römerhügel in Ludwigsburg today together with District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas. The District Administrator, as representative of the Ludwigsburg district school authority, welcomed the District President.
During a tour of the school, which included a visit to the Oscar Walcker School's organ building area and the Subcontra-C organ pipe on display there, District President Reimer and District Administrator Haas were given an overview of the variety of vocational schools and their dual training programs.
District President Reimer emphasized the opportunities for the individual through qualified training: "The students at the vocational schools benefit from the innovative school and vocational training opportunities as well as from the combination of theory and practice." It is important to recognize one's own abilities and use the potential that lies within them. This is supported and encouraged by the wide range of courses offered by the schools. "This lays the foundation for a successful professional career or subsequent studies," says Reimer.
In the dual training program at the Oscar Walcker School, students are trained in all non-metal professions from construction, paint and wood technology to health and personal care professions, the food sector and musical instrument making. The focus of the discussions today was on the development of student numbers in the skilled trades. The Mathilde Planck School informed the District President about the status of the new generalist nursing training program, which will also start in the Ludwigburg district in 2020. Pupils and teachers from the Robert-Franck-Schule then discussed their experiences and opportunities as part of the international programs offered by the school and the German-Israeli exchange with the Anne Frank High School in Kibbutz Sasa, in the partner district of the Upper Galilee.
"Our vocational schools are in an excellent position because the district of Ludwigsburg, as their sponsor, has generously provided the necessary funds for investments and ongoing operations for decades - now well over 100 million euros in total; for the vocational schools at Römerhügel alone, with their current 4,350 students, construction measures amounting to around 3.2 million euros are planned for 2020," said District Administrator Haas. He continued: "The urgently needed skilled workers of tomorrow will be trained here under the best conditions." In conclusion, District Administrator Haas underlined the importance of the international programs and the student exchange with Anne Frank High School for the students' education, personal development and getting to know and understand each other.
