The new program of the Schiller-Volkshochschule Kreis Ludwigsburg for the autumn/winter semester 2023/2024 has been published. It is now available online at www.schiller-vhs.de. The printed program is available to pick up at numerous distribution points in the district's town halls, bookshops and many banks. The focus of the semester is on the highly topical subject of "Networked". The new semester with around 1,600 courses, lectures and excursions starts on September 25. Registration is now open.

A promotional cover for the Schiller-Volkshochschule program, featuring diverse groups of people engaging together, technology usage, and interconnected elements symbolizing networking. The theme emphasizes "Networking" and the program runs from August 2023 to February 2024.

"Networks have become indispensable in our local-globalized world. They often enable us to carry out our tasks with limited resources and advance ideas together," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. Networking is now more than ever a part of our reality and our everyday lives. "Networked" can be understood as digital networking and the expansion of digital infrastructure, but also means networking in our personal living environment, in the education sector and at a societal level.

The Schiller-vhs continuing education program is full of innovative ideas: participants can learn the creative technique "sketchnotes", for example, there is a graffiti workshop for young people and adults as well as a yodeling course and a Spanish language course for children. Those interested can rediscover old handicraft techniques in the "Spinning on the spinning wheel" course. The children's researcher series on the topics of "Fire researcher", "Egg researcher" and "Crime researcher" will be exciting for the younger ones.

Climate protection and sustainability remain current topics in the vhs program, for example in the workshop "Upcycling small pieces of furniture" and at the information evening "The El Nino phenomenon and its consequences". Amazing things from the animal world are explained in the lecture "The incredible sensory powers of nature". The guided tours at KURZ Entsorgung and alwa Mineralwasser provide an exciting look behind the scenes of local businesses.

New in the area of local and regional studies are exciting multivision presentations on Norway, Scotland, India, Paris and Bergamo. Lecturers will present the beauties on their own doorstep at the themed evening "Hiking and discovering the Neckar". Listeners can follow the report of an unusual and adventurous journey in "On foot 6,000 km from Germany to Israel".

The "Relaxation, mindfulness and stress management" program has been expanded to provide people with even more knowledge and methods for slowing down their lives and experiences. New courses include "Progressive muscle relaxation according to Jacobson" and "Less stress and more quality of life with MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction)". The topic of "Networked" is addressed in the seminar "Experiencing the secret of trees - between Hildegard von Bingen and modern science", which combines ancient and modern knowledge. The popular Pilates-Yoga Fusion online course combines a relaxation method with an exercise method. A yoga course especially for men is being offered for the first time. The summer yoga courses at Lichtenberg Castle offer relaxation in a special historical setting.

Whether cooking courses for men, sauces from scratch, original recipes for pumpkin and lentils,

meat dishes with veal or duck, vegetarian and vegan cuisine or menus typical of the country: the range of cooking courses is as varied as the tastes. Amateur bakers can improve their skills in baking courses and even learn how to bake gluten-free.

A variety of excursions and study trips take you beyond the district's borders. New to the program are day trips to the Langenau waterworks and to Ulm, as well as a trip to the Frankfurt Book Fair. For the first time, the program includes study trips with musical highlights: In the fall and winter of 2023, there will be trips to Malta and Gozo with an opera visit to the Teatru Astra to see Verdi's "Rigoletto", to Salzburg with a visit to the famous Salzburg Advent Singing and on a day trip to Baden-Baden for a concert by Max Raabe and the Palast Orchester at the Festspielhaus.

The Adult Education Center meets the challenges of an increasingly networked world with adaptability, courage and a spirit of innovation. The vhs courses in the areas of IT and general education teach students how to deal confidently with new technology and find their way around the rapidly advancing digitalization. The seminar "ChatGPT - What you should know about it: AI's egg-laying wool-milk sow or just another tool?" addresses the hot topic of artificial intelligence.

The 17th Academy Days in Bietigheim-Bissingen will also focus on the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence. Under the heading "AI revolution - the future is already here!", experts from science and research will report on the following topics at the Kronenzentrum Bietigheim-Bissingen on November 8 and 9: How will our children learn? Will social robots replace humans? Will AI in medicine lead to healthcare dominated by machines? AI is the key technology of the future - Where does Europe stand in the global race? Where will humans stand if they hand over more and more skills to machines?
