Practitioners' regulars' table on January 30 with lecture: "Possible adaptations of agriculture to the climate"

The organic model region Ludwigsburg-Stuttgart invites farmers from the region to a regulars' table for practitioners on the topic of "Possible adaptations of agriculture to the climate".

The effects and consequences of climate change are being clearly felt in agriculture. An increase in the average temperature and a decrease in precipitation during the growing season have an impact on the quality and amount of yields. In order to adapt to the changes in our region, for example, rethinking the choice of crop types and varieties, adapting crop rotation or making changes to fertilization and soil cultivation can be helpful approaches for continuing to farm successfully. The topic of agroforestry can also open up new opportunities with regard to the climate. Here, arable farming or livestock farming are combined with the cultivation of productive woody plants in order to achieve ecological and economic benefits.

The practitioners' regulars' table will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 7 p.m. in the sports home restaurant of TSV Münchingen (Kornwestheimer Straße 15, 70825 Korntal-Münchingen). Dr. Martine Schraml, scientist at the LTZ on the topic of climate resilience in arable farming, and Dr. Julia Schneider, research assistant at the University of Hohenheim and part of the Coordination Office for Agroforestry Systems Research (kAFo), will discuss the topics "Adaptations of agriculture to the climate" and in particular "Agroforestry" in their presentations. Afterwards there will be time for a joint discussion.

Registration is requested at bmr[at]landkreis-ludwigsburg.de or 07141 42467, but spontaneous participants are also welcome.
